TANJUNGPINANG, KOMPAS.com— The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) officially launched the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026) for the Riau Islands Province, Wednesday (17/6/2026).
The launch was attended directly by the Head of the Republic of Indonesia’s BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti and the Governor of the Riau Islands, Ansar Ahmad.
This activity marks the start of comprehensive data collection on all business actors in the province which is growing the fastest in the last decade.
Apart from being attended by the Head of BPS and the Governor of Riau, the event was also attended by Deputy for Balance Sheets and Statistical Analysis of BPS Edy Mahmud, Director of BPS Expenditure Balance Sheet who is also Daily Chair of SE2026 Windhiarso Putranto, Head of BPS Province of Kepri Toto Haryanto Silitonga, mayors and regents in Riau Islands, heads of BPS in various cities and districts in Riau Islands, members区域领导协调论坛的代表和人口普查官员的代表。

Amalia called Riau Islands a “Blue Jewel” and was the second province – after South Sulawesi – whose Economic Census declaration was attended directly by the Head of BPS.
The election, according to him, cannot be separated from Riau Islands’ economic performance which grew above 7 percent in the first quarter of 2026, the fifth highest nationally and far surpassed national economic growth which was recorded at 5.61 percent.
“So Riau Islands is one of the main provinces that is of concern to us at the center. Hopefully, what the Governor said earlier, Riau Islands must be the champion in the implementation of the 2026 economic census,” said Amalia.

“Therefore, an economic census will be present to hone the blue jewel. Our economic census wants to be present to present the blue jewel as progress for the Riau Islands,” explained Amalia.

SE2026 数据收集分两个阶段进行。第一阶段，即2026年5月1日至8月31日，大中型企业通过WhatsApp或电子邮件发送的链接独立填写调查问卷。

第二阶段，上门普查将于2026年6月15日至8月31日进行，官员采用计算机辅助个人访谈（CAPI）方法直接走访企业参与者。
