JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com- Former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Nadiem Makarim, gave a message to the younger generation who want to enter government when reading a plea or defense note at the Central Jakarta Corruption Crime Court (Tipikor), Tuesday (2/6/2026).
纳迪姆解释说：“我对考虑为国家服务的下一代的建议是在专业精神和政治礼仪之间找到平衡。”
In his plea, Nadiem admitted that he did not understand political dynamics while serving as minister, which caused a lot of friction with various parties.
“我对政治是一个业余爱好者，”纳迪姆说。

He said that a fast and straightforward professional work style is often perceived negatively in government circles.
“I forgot that the position of minister is a political position,” he said.
Apart from that, Nadiem revealed that he does not regret serving the country even though he is now facing legal proceedings and serious demands in the Chromebook procurement case.
纳迪姆强调，他进入政府的决定是为国家服务的一种形式，尽管他之前作为 Gojek 的创始人一直处于舒适的状态。
“如果所有杰出人士都因为舒服而拒绝服役，我们国家的未来会怎样？”纳迪姆说。

他说，寻求经济利益的机会总是存在的，但为国家做出重大改变的机会却不会出现两次。
“赚钱的机会在我的一生中永远存在。但为国家的下一代实现大跃进的机会在我的一生中只会出现一次。”
Nadiem also admitted that he hopes that his children will understand the reasons why he chose to serve the country.
“I hope that in the future my children will watch this play and believe that their father never regretted serving the country,” he said.
However, on the other hand, Nadiem expressed deep disappointment with the legal process he is currently facing.
“我得到的奖品是铁棍，”纳迪姆说。

He admitted that he was devastated to see that all the sacrifices he had made while serving as minister ended in criminal proceedings.
“想象一下我的心有多伤心，”他说。
Nadiem also questioned the state’s attitude towards him after admitting that he had sacrificed his time, energy and financial condition to serve.
“这个国家对自己的仆人就这么残忍吗？”纳迪姆在评审团面前说道。
